TECHNOLOGY STAFF DEVELOPMENT
MCS Technology Training Center
The Macon County Schools Technology Training Center is located at Union Academy, formerly Union Elementary School. Take 441S toward Dillard. At approximately 3 miles south of Franklin, turn right at Addington Bridge road. Go .3 miles and turn right onto Union School Road. Turn in the second drive (the back drive). The training center is on the left as you enter. Most of the training sessions will be held at this location. Maximum enrollment is 24.
 
Registration
Macon County Schools offers a wide range of technology workshops throughout the year. These technology offerings are available to any Macon School employee. All technology courses listed are approved for technology credits to be applied toward certificate renewal. To register for a course, complete and submit the online registration form. Print the registration form that follows the registration process as a reminder of courses you have signed up for. It is not necessary to submit a renewal credit form for these classes. As with any training activity, if a substitute or reimbursement is required, prior approval using the SEA System will be necessary.
 
Continuing Education Credit
Continuing education units of credit are noted for each course. Upon completion of all assignments for the course, a credit renewal form will be provided. Credit for technology workshops will be dependent on performance based outcomes and all workshops will have clearly defined exit requirements. If you must leave early or come in late, additional assignments or partial credit will be awarded.
 
Leveling

Level 1: Beginning courses are designed to teach basic technology skills. Participants should be comfortable with the skills offered in Level 1: before enrolling in Level 2: Integrating Technology

Level 2: Integrate courses focus on the integration of technology skills with the core curriculum. Teachers will explore effective teaching strategies using available software and State competencies. Classroom activities and/or lesson plans will be the focus of these workshops. Having a working knowledge of basic computer functions is necessary.
